Residents of Brownsmead, Knappa and surrounding areas are welcome to a neighborhood meeting May 1, organized by the Clatsop County Sheriff's Department. The town hall-style meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Brownsmead Grange.

Sheriff John Raichl, District Attorney Josh Marquis and other sheriff's office staff will update residents about criminal investigations in their area and field questions and concerns. They will explain why and how to report a crime, procedures followed once a crime is reported and citizens' legal rights. The meeting provides an opportunity for residents to meet their resident deputies and substation staff.

Also scheduled to attend from the sheriff's office are Sgt. Tom Bergin, Det. Dean Schroeder, Senior Resident Deputy Dan Johnston, Resident Deputy Mike Nelson and staff assistant Renae Murphy.

Potluck refreshments are welcome.
