Developer Harry Henke has the land, a building permit and plans. Now all he needs is tenants for what will be a new commercial building in Seaside.

"What we have on the boards is a 30,000-square-foot mixed use retail center," said Kirk Faucett, Henke's co-developer. "We're in the process of trying to secure an anchor tenant and some additional tenants."

Henke, a Seaside contractor, and Faucett, who owns Equivest Properties, a commercial real estate brokerage company, expect construction to begin this summer.

"The plans are done, the site is filled and we're going to finalize the marketing plan soon," said Faucett. "We hope construction will be done in about eight months. Realistically, we're hoping to have it up and running this time next year."

The site - adjacent to US 101, and behind Muchas Gracias restaurant - contained significant wetlands, noted Faucett. After adding $100,000 in fill to the site, "We had to do some off-site mitigation. We had to buy a piece of land upland."

The single-story structure will be primarily retail, but could house anything from a bank branch to a dentist's office, said Faucett.
