Big River Excavating continues work next week on West Marine Drive near the Astoria Roundabout, where Astoria's Combined Sewer Overflow Smith Point Storage Project is under way.

Excavation for the storage structure is completed. Forming for the structure begins Monday. Traffic has been diverted to the north side of the street with two travel lanes and a parking area for residents. Access to local businesses will be kept open. This arrangement will be in place for up to three months. Motorists are urged to use caution in this work zone. Big River Excavating continues Combined Sewer Overflow Separation Project work in the south Astoria area. Crews will be doing general cleanup and prepping for pavement replacement in the areas from Seventh Street and Klaskanine Avenue, north to Lexington Avenue, and from Third Street to Fifth Street. Priority attention will be given to repaving on Seventh Street at Klaskanine Avenue. Questions should be directed to Holli Pick, Engineering Tech, at City Hall, (503) 338-5173.

A section of Lost Lake Road from Henry Rierson Spruce Run Campground to Lost Lake, approximately two miles from the junction with Spruce Run Road, will be closed next week due to road improvement activity on the Clatsop State Forest, Oregon Department of Forestry officials announced.

The road will be blocked from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., but access will be permitted outside those designated hours. The road will reopen again all day to accommodate Fourth of July holiday travel from Saturday, July 2 through Monday, July 4. On Tuesday, July 5, access will once again be curtailed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Road closure restrictions will most likely continue until approximately Monday, July 11.

Drivers planning to use Lost Lake Road to get to Lost Lake in southeast Clatsop County can use U.S. Highway 26 as a temporary alternative route, Construction will improve vehicle access and safety in the area.
