Celebrate the 40th annual Earth Day with SOLV by volunteering for SOLV IT from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17. Throughout Oregon and southwest Washington volunteers will converge at roughly 125 community projects working to clean up litter and illegal dumpsites, remove invasive plants and enhance watersheds.

Last year, more than 3,000 volunteers came together and recycled or disposed of more than 406,818 pounds of litter, mixed waste, green waste, tires, scrap metal and invasive plants and planted 3,087 trees, shrubs and native plants. These efforts created cleaner neighborhoods, improved water quality and enhanced wildlife habitat throughout the Portland metro area. This year, SOLV reports that this event is expanding statewide.

There will be events in Seaside and Warrenton. Call or log on to register and find out what tools to bring. Be sure to dress for the weather and the cleanup and/or nature work activities.
