The Clatsop County Historical Society features a presentation by author Sandy Polishuk on journalist and activist Julia Ruutila at its next Thursday Night Talk program, 7 p.m. Dec.1 at the Clatsop County Heritage Museum.

"Julia Ruutila: The Making of an Extraordinary Life" chronicles the daughter of a union organizer and socialist who became a life-long activist for labor, peace and civil rights. A master storyteller who worked as a journalist for 50 years, Ruutila lived in Eugene, Portland and Astoria.

Polishuk's program is supported by the Oregon Council for the Humanities and Oregon Chautauqua.

Thursday Night Talks is a free monthly lecture series held the first Thursday of each month, featuring a variety of topics and speakers.
