Spring Break is upon us with kids and their families looking forward to their week long break. In preparation, Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District has a number of activities you can find on their website at www.sunsetempire.com, call 503-738-3311 or pick up an information flyer at the Sunset Pool, Community Center and Seaside Chamber of Commerce. The Seaside Police Department is also putting the final touches on their Spring Break plan. While Sunset Empire Park and Recreation will host of events and activities, the police department will gear up for the increase in visitors and keeping the community safe.

Officers from the Oregon State Police, and Clatsop County Sheriffs office will join the Seaside Police Department to keep things peaceful. While OSP troopers will be enforcing traffic laws along Highway 26 and 101, other officers will be patrolling city streets, including foot and bicycle patrols in the downtown area.

Spring Break in Seaside continues to attract more and more families enjoying the fun and activities provided here on the Oregon coast. We are looking forward to them enjoying their stay, but remind them of a few things to keep in mind:

? Seaside maintains a zero tolerance for Minor in Possession or Consumption of Intoxicating Beverages. Bail is set at $300 and Spring Break 2008 saw ninety-two (92) receive citations.

? Seaside Ordinance prohibits minors under the age of 18 (unless accompanied by a parent or guardian) from being upon any street, highway, park, alley or other place between midnight and 4AM.

? Seaside City Ordinance prohibits alcohol beverages on the beach during Spring Break. Those found in possession of alcoholic beverages can be cited for Open Container.

? Seaside City Ordinance prohibits open container of alcoholic beverages anywhere within the City. Bail is set at $700.

? Seaside Ordinance prohibits the use of any vehicle or trailer for lodging purposes, upon the streets or public beach of the city, or otherwise use the streets or public beach for lodging or sleeping.

We at the Seaside Police Department want everyone to have a safe and fun Seaside experience; while Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District is working to see that you have fun, the Seaside Police Department will be working to see that you stay safe.
