Oregon and Washington fisheries managers brought sturgeon sales to a halt Tuesday morning.

The ban applies to sales of sturgeon caught in the following Select Area commercial fishing grounds: Tongue Point/South Channel, Steamboat Slough, Blind Slough/Knappa Slough, Deep River and Youngs Bay.

Commercial fishing seasons will be considered at a Columbia River Compact hearing at 10 a.m. Friday. The hearing will be held at the Washington Department of fish and Wildlife Region 5 office in Vancouver, Wash.
