CANNON BEACH - At 6:33 p.m. Saturday, Cannon Beach Fire and Rescue was dispatched to Hug Point State Park to rescue a raft in the surf. Arriving units discovered that a raft without oars was adrift with two people aboard, about 150 yards offshore.

The Surf Rescue Team launched two watercraft at Tolovana Park Beach. By the time the jet skis arrived at Hug Point the raft had come ashore and no one was injured. Ashley Stidham, 14, of Astoria and Jayne Johnson, 30, of Oregon City were checked for hypothermia and released
