With most of the Columbia River Symphony performing in the Jewell Marching Band, three of its members decided to fashion a float of their own.

Symphony co-founder and violinist Angela Pederson Calvin of Astoria, violinist Shoshanna McCleary of Astoria, and tuba player David Dowell of Jewell, draped a Ford F-150 in banners advertising their organization.

The symphony, also founded by Angela’s husband Cory Pederson, is in its fourth year and is comprised of musicians ages 12 to 90. It currently features strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion.

“We’re always looking for new members among people who value community arts,” Calvin said.

The float’s banners directed onlookers to the symphony’s website online at  www.columbiariversymphony.org
