Tami Mareen Altom, 44, of Seaside, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005 in Ketchikan, Alaska.
Ms. Altom was born Dec. 29, 1960 in Astoria to Milton and Donna Lee Altom. Both parents preceded her in death.
She attended Lewis and Clark Elementary School, Astoria High School and Clatsop Community College.
Ms. Altom was a caregiver for the learning disabled, handicapped and several seniors with disabilities. She was in charge of several facilities in Washington and Oregon. Family members said she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. They said she loved fishing and could be found with pole in hand at a river or lake. She loved animals and had several special dogs.
She was also involved for many years with Alcohol Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous 12-step programs.
Ms. Altom was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Ronald. She is survived by her domestic partner, Laurie Howell of Seaside; two children, Wendy Howell of Grays Harbor, Wash. and Brandon Howell of Seaside; one grandchild, Collin in Grays Harbor; one aunt, Patricia Weirup of Svensen; one sister, Cheri Ramvick of Eugene; two brothers, Milton "Bud" Altom of Everett, Wash., and Norman "Butch" Altom of Tillamook; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Maryland.
A Celebration of Life will be held in September.
Ketchikan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
