A 14-year-old Astoria boy has reportedly been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries in Astoria and Warrenton and an alleged rape last weekend, and two other teenagers were arrested for separate burglaries early this morning.
Astoria police arrested the 14-year-old for vandalizing and burglarizing about half a dozen businesses. Police arrested a 23-year-old Astoria man, Levi Matthew Andersen, for the burglaries and rape earlier this week. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
Just after midnight this morning, Astoria police arrested Aaron Michael Boutin, 19, 92012 Hagen Drive, Astoria in a different incident for second degree burglary after Sgt. Dave Logsden said he was found hiding in the Astoria High School auditorium.
Logsdon said authorities had been alerted by the school's alarm system. He said none of the school's property was reported damaged or stolen, and police are looking for a second suspect.
Later today at about 5:30 a.m., police received another alert from an alarm at Maritime Fuel at 1701 Marine Drive. Logsdon said police and a deputy from the Clatsop County Sheriff's Department arrived on scene to investigate. He said the deputy, Robert Townsend, found a 16-year-old boy hiding in a truck parked in the gravel lot across 18th Street from the gas station.
While investigating the incident, Logsden said it became apparent that the boy had burglarized the gas station as well as the nearby Bowpicker fish and chips stand. He said some tuna and beer from the stand were recovered and about 40 packs of cigarettes from the gas station. About $800 in damage was done when the boy allegedly broke a window to gain entry into the gas station, Logsdon said.
He said the boy, who is in custody with the Oregon Youth Authority, was a former Job Corps student.
