The ASTORIA BRIDGE is famous (again). BRAD MOSHER of Astoria noted that NEWSWEEK had an aerial photo of the COLUMBIA RIVER and the bridge in its online article, "Our Endangered Planet - 100 Places to remember before they disappear " by Fareed Zakaria.

The photo above of the Columbia River and Astoria Bridge, by Cotton Coulson of Getty Images, is No. 11 in "The Americas" gallery.

Zakaria includes the Columbia River in his list of "some of the places that could disappear, or be radically changed, if climatologists are right in their predictions of global warming. It is also a collection of some of the most beautiful places on earth and a reminder that they are magical, fragile and ultimately transient."
