CANNON BEACH - The Cannon Beach Chapter of P.E.O. has awarded three local women college scholarships for the 2005-2006 school year.

Hannah Michalsky of Astoria received a $600 Marguerite scholarship to pursue a degree at Multnomah Bible school in Portland. Her goal is to work in the youth ministry field.

Tammy Ray of Seaside was given a $1,500 Program for Continuing Education scholarship. She is enrolled in the Clinical Psychology Graduate Program at Portland State University.

Sarah Crow of Cannon Beach is using her $1,600 Program for Continuing Education scholarship at Linfield College in McMinnville. She is completing her course work in social and behavioral sciences through the Adult Online Education Program.

The P.E.O. Sisterhood is an international philanthropic and educational nonprofit organization with the goal of providing women increased opportunities to receive higher education. There are about 5,900 chapters throughout the United States and Canada, with four chapters in Clatsop County. Since 1985, Cannon Beach Chapter FB has provided more than $60,000 in scholarship assistance to 37 women on the North Coast.
