Tillamook - Rain, fog and darkness are impeding efforts to collect truck data using video cameras in Tillamook, originally scheduled last week. Starting next week, a traffic study will be done at specific locations by teams to collect data. Traffic information collectors will be positioned at several locations, including sites on State Highway 6, U.S. Highway 101, Latimer Road, Third Street (Netarts Highway), 10th Street and Long Prairie Road. The traffic data will not be used for traffic or law enforcement purposes.

The study is part of a refinement plan to the 2003 city of Tillamook and Tillamook County Transportation System Plans.

The information will be included in a Truck Transportation Study that will identify ways to minimize impacts of local and through freight truck traffic in the Tillamook downtown commercial and residential areas.

Results of the study will be presented to an advisory committee working jointly with the city and county. This advisory committee has been established to actively participate in the identification and solution of truck traffic issues, including identifying deficiencies, evaluating alternatives, and recommending preferred alternatives.
