SEASIDE — The body of Seaside High School graduate Peter Toyas was found in Seaside Friday.

His death is being investigated as a suicide, according to the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office.

Toyas, 25, was the son of Nick and Teena Toyas of Gearhart and was a keen proponent of mixed martial arts, (MMA), which combines aspects of grappling and striking martial arts.

His father, Nick Toyas, is a Seaside chiropractor; Teena Toyas teaches at Clatsop Community College and is commissioner for North Coast high school volleyball and soccer officials, as well as a longtime basketball referee.

At 6 p.m. Friday, deputies were dispatched to the home of Toyas and found his body and a handgun.

Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary is handling funeral arrangements.
