Pioneer House has been awarded a donation from the U.S. Bank Foundation of $2,000 to assist with Saturday's reopening of the homeless shelter in Clatsop County.

Cynthia Johnson, vice president and district manager of U.S. Bank presented the good news to Pat Burness, the executive director of the Clatsop County Women's Resource Center, which has recently assumed operations of Pioneer House.

The Women's Resource Center will celebrate the grand reopening of the Pioneer House Shelter from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. The public is welcome to tour the facility, meet the WRC's Board Members, staff, volunteers, as well as representatives from the Clatsop County Chapter of United Way.

There will be a barbecue in the back yard featuring free hot dogs and soda. Parking is available at the TLC Federal Credit Union and at the Astoria-Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Pioneer House relies on the generosity of the local community and is seeking community support to help with the maintenance and repair to reopen the House. Call the WRC at 325-3426 for questions or to offer help for this community project.
