SEASIDE – Seaside Mayor Don Larson is proud of the American Flag and hopes that more people in the community will display it beyond holidays.

Larson encouraged the 60 people gathered at the Seaside American Legion Post 99 for a Memorial Day service May 28 to take pride in the American Flag and not to forget those who have served and who are serving to keep the Nation free.

The Legion’s Memorial Day service included an opening prayer by Lou Neubecker.

Other speakers included Post Commander Kim Wright, Joe Barcus with the Seaside Elks Lodge, and Marc Siegel of Oregon Senator Jeff Merley's staff.

A red, white and blue wreath was tossed from the bridge near the Post into Neawanna Creek during the ceremony by representatives of the Jim Young family escorted by Bud Thompson and Ann Heineck.
