SEASIDE - Oregon Connections Academy, a virtual public charter school, will hold a free information session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Shilo Inn Oceanfront, 30 N. Promenade in Seaside.

Parents will have an opportunity to meet with ORCA teachers, explore ORCA's individualized learning approach, its curriculum, the technology-enhanced learning environment and the enrollment process.

ORCA can accept students from anywhere in the state, and students entering grades K-12 are eligible to apply. New features for the 2008-09 school year will include the addition of 12th grade, and a loaned computer for families with students in grades K-8. High school students also may be eligible, based on need.

Because it is a public school, there are no fees or tuition costs. ORCA provides all curriculum materials including textbooks, workbooks and hands-on materials. Each student is assigned a professional, Oregon-certified teacher to oversee learning and assess student progress.
