Blue Scorcher Bakery Cafe in Astoria is hosting the first annual Lughnasa Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 28 at 1493 Duane St. A live performance of KMUN's live Troll Radio Review will begin at 11 a.m.

The festival will feature a farmers' market, carnival-type games, cake walks (benefiting local non-profit groups), grain and bread demonstrations, pedal-powered fruit smoothies, children's field day events, a home brewing demonstration, street performers and more.

Festival passports with information about all activities will be available at the information booth for $3. Once the passport has been completed, participants can turn it in for a free treat.

Coast Weekend will run a preview story on this event in the July 26 issue.

People interested in volunteering are encouraged to stop by the Blue Scorcher to pick up an information sheet by July 14.

For information, call Iris Sullivan, Lughnasa coordinator, at 338-7473.
