The Clatsop County Board of Commissioners is seeking volunteers to fill vacancies on the following committees.

• Planning Commission - two vacancies. The planning commission advises the Board of Commissioners on land-use planning, conducts land-use hearings and implements the county's zoning and comprehensive plan. Meetings are generally held on the second Tuesday of each month for a full day. The vacancies are for four-year terms ending June 30, 2006.

• Human Services Advisory Committee. Members assist the Health and Human Services Department in identifying needs and establishing priorities for the publicly funded human service delivery system. The service system includes Developmental Disabilities, Mental Health and Alcohol and Drug services. Committee membership is open to recipients of services or family members, advocates, professionals and any citizen interested in these services. The committee meets every other month as scheduled with occasional special meetings.

• Recreational Lands Planning Advisory Committee - one vacancy. The RLPAC assists the county in the development of long-range plans for county parks and directs the formulation and preparation of amendments to the county's recreation lands element of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The committee usually meets on the last Thursday of each month in the afternoon, plus some sub-committee meetings and occasional on-site inspections.

• Public Safety Coordinating Council - two vacancies. The council is responsible for developing and recommending to the Board of Commissioners a comprehensive local corrections program (both adult and juvenile) and for coordinating local criminal justice policy among affected entities. The committee usually meets on the first Tuesday of each month at noon.

• Northwest Oregon Housing Authority - one vacancy. The Northwest Oregon Housing Authority was created by Clatsop, Tillamook and Columbia Counties. The authority owns and manages housing for low and moderate income persons and administers various federal programs which assist low and moderate income persons to obtain safe, sanitary and decent housing. The vacancy is for a five-year term ending June 30, 2007. The committee usually meets the first Thursday of each month and there are occasional subcommittee meetings.

People interested in being appointed to any of these committees are encouraged to contact the county administrator's office at 325-1000 for further information and to obtain an application form. The application forms must be returned by June 18.
