Yuletide in Seaside festivities begin Friday, Nov. 25 with the Pacific Power Warm Lights Parade. Clatsop County Sheriff, Tom Bergren is Grand Marshall for this wonderful show of floats, people, pets, musical groups and of course Santa and Mrs. Santa Claus. The Parade moves through downtown Seaside streets distributing candy and growing ever larger as people join the end to gather in the pocket park on Broadway between Columbia and Edgewood for the official lighting of the community tree.

At the tree there is carol singing and the chance for kids to present their lists to Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Seaside Chamber ambassadors will serve cookies from the Chamber and cider and coffee donated by Oregon Fine Foods from the outdoor alcove in front of Pudgy's Restaurant.

Prizes are given for the best parade entry in six categories; Use of Lights, Motorized/Towed, Pet/Animal, Children's Presentation, Family Presentation and Spirit of the Season. Entry forms are available at the Seaside Chamber of Commerce office at 7 N. Roosevelt or online at www.seasidechamber.com, click on Events and then on Parade.

The Seaside Chamber of Commerce produces the parade and creates the community tree. In addition they will run two tours Dec. 17 at 6 and 8 pm to the houses, businesses and neighborhoods featured in the Annual Pacific Power Business & Residential Lighting Competition. The tour leaves from the Chamber parking lot at 7 N. Roosevelt. You-Drive tour maps are also available after Dec 15 at the Chamber office.

Prizes are awarded for Best Lighted Business, Best Neighborhood and First, Second and Third Place Homes. You do not need to fill out an entry form for the lighting competition. Judges review all major areas of Seaside. However, if you want to be sure they see your home or business call the Chamber at 503-735-6239 to be included on the review list.

The Annual Gift Fair is also held Nov 25-27. It features only handmade items in a juried show and offers unique and one-of-a-kind gifts that make filling your gift list fun. The Fair is held in the Seaside Civic & Convention Center and there is no charge to attend.

In addition to the Gift Fair, the Chamber coordinates the first Saturday Art Walk each month and the December 3rd Walk is another gift shopping opportunity with excellent showing from galleries and businesses.

Alan Smiles, Executive Director of the Seaside Chamber commented, "Yuletide is the season for sharing and we especially want to remind people to shop locally. Downtown streets and bridges are decorated with lighted starfish, seasonal banners and garlands. In the park on Broadway, the community holiday tree lights flash in time with seasonal music. Stores showcase a variety of unusual and beautiful gifts. Come and enjoy it all."
