Judge sentences Miller to 45 months in prisonA Warrenton man was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for the sexual abuse of a young girl.

Scott Wayne Miller pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of attempted first-degree unlawful sexual penetration in Clatsop County Circuit Court after waiving his right to a trial.

Miller was originally charged with first-degree sex abuse in connection with the incident, which occurred in December. The victim was a girl under the age of 12.

Judge Paula Brownhill sentenced Miller to 45 months in prison, with credit for time served.

Deputy District Attorney Dawn McIntosh said the prosecution agreed to a plea negotiation because there was only one reported incident, and Miller accepted responsibility for the crime.

"There's not a time I don't think of the hurt I put them through," Miller said of the victim and her relatives.

Miller was also sentenced to 10 years of post-prison supervision, with conditions that include seeking sex-offender treatment and consuming no alcohol.
