At 1:04 a.m. today, a caller to Seaside Police reported a suspicious vehicle was driving in the area of Eighth Avenue and North Lincoln Street in Seaside, looking in mailboxes and removing mail.

The vehicle is described as an early 1990s white Isuzu Rodeo, without a tire on the back tailgate. The driver is described as a white heavyset male in his 40s. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the vehicle. They will continue to watch for the vehicle while on patrol.

To protect against identity fraud, police recommend removing mail from the mailbox every day or rent a box at the post office. Shred all credit card applications and other paperwork with personal account numbers on them before throwing them away.
