CATHLAMET, Wash. - The Portland National Weather Service welcomes volunteers with an interest in severe weather spotting to attend a training session from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cathlamet County Courthouse, 64 Main St., Cathlamet, in the third floor training room. There is no charge for the training, which is open to the public.

The session is for those who want to become part of the network of volunteer weather spotters or as a refresher course for existing weather spotters. Participants will be trained how to recognize cloud features and other weather phenomena that can produce severe weather as well as the criteria for reporting these elements to the NWS.
