PORTLAND - The Department of Consumer and Business Services, Occupational Safety and Health Division encourages workers and employers to participate in the 14th annual Western Pulp and Paper Workers' Safety and Health Conference, scheduled for Portland's Doubletree Jantzen Beach Hotel from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3.
Among the topics featured at the conference are:
Confined space rescues;
Workplace violence prevention;
Safety committee effectiveness.
Canadian safety professional and firefighter/paramedic Martin Lesperance will provide the keynote speech Nov. 30. Lesperance is the author of four books dedicated to injury prevention and living safety-focused lifestyles, and provides safety training to corporations throughout North America.
Registration fees for the conference are $150 for the three-day event. Attend any single day for $95. An awards dinner on Wednesday Dec. 1 will honor significant contributions to safety and health in the pulp, paper and converting industries. Tickets for the awards dinner are $15 per person.
