The Seaside Wildcats will open play in the Collegiate Wood Bat Summer League Thursday, in a four-game stand at the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox in Marysville, Calif.

Formerly the Portland Wildcats, the Seaside Wildcats are a member of the seven-team Pacific International League who will make Broadway Field their home for the 2006 summer season.

The Wildcats recently reached an agreement with Gerald Bolden to return as manager, while Seaside High's Joel Dierickx will join the Wildcats as an assistant coach.

In addition to the Wildcats, teams in the PIL for the 2006 summer season will include the Everett (Wash.) Merchants, Langley (British Columbia) Blaze, Pacific (Portland) Javelinas, Portland Titans, Seattle Studs and Skagit Eagles.

Seaside's home opener is scheduled for June 23 vs. the Pacific Javelinas, a single nine-inning game beginning at 7 p.m.
