Not long after tickets went on sale for the Lovin' Soupfull, a fund-raiser for Women's Resource Center in Astoria, the tickets were sold out.

Selling out of tickets so quickly is "a great problem to have," says Laura Snyder, member of the WRC board of directors. "WRC is awed by the level of community support and appreciates the response."

The center operates Clatsop County's only crisis hotline and the Bambrick House safe shelter, as well as a 24/7 crisis advocacy for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault, year-round support groups and employment training, as well as emergency shelter, food and clothing.

The next WRC fund-raiser, at the end of March, will be the annual Light Bite at Baked Alaska, where local chefs share their creations. The theme for this year is "Passport to the Discovery Coast," featuring cuisine of the region.

Tax-deductible contributions to WRC are welcome at any time. For more information, call WRC at 325-3426.
