Clatsop County 4-H was recently awarded a grant of $2,000 from the 4-H Foundation to help underwrite equipment needs for The Young Entrepreneur's Club, a new program of Astoria Sunday Market and 4-H.

Funds will be used to purchase equipment to create the Market Biz Kidz tent where kids grade K-12 will be selling products they make or grow at the 2009 Astoria Sunday Market.

Additional donations are sought to match these funds.

The Young Entrepreneurs Club is designed to complement current 4-H programs by providing kids with the opportunity to foster their creativity into a business. Participants will learn to design, create and sell a product they invent, make, grow or raise themselves.

A workshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Cannery Pier Hotel conference room. Reservations are not necessary, but are preferred. Participants will bring a prototype of their product and meet some of the market vendors to see their displays and learn tips about vending and making products. To make a reservation for the workshop, call (503) 325-1010.

For information about The Young Entrepreneurs Club, call the Astoria Sunday Market at (503) 325-1010 or Clatsop County 4-H at (503) 325-8573.
