GREEN SPOON FOLLOW-UP

Last month we mentioned the introduction of our new 100% biodegradable spoons made from cornstarch, to go along with the biodegradable dish made with grass and reed pulp, old-fashioned wooden taster spoons, and recycled napkins. Sure, we got some press from it, but more excitedly (and importantly), several ice cream stores from across the country (and one in Canada) contacted us to find out where we got our green stuff! We're tickled that others want to jump on the eco-friendly bandwagon, and we hope that you'll discover and support (and report back to us) others who go green!

JUNE'S BLUE MOON

A blue moon is the second of two full moons to occur in the same calendar month. It was helped to popularity when a Trivial Pursuit question used this as a source for one of its questions. Calendar blue moons occur infrequently, thus using the saying "once in a blue moon" to describe a rare event is still meaningful. (source - wikipedia). Our Blue Moon ice cream has nothing to do with any of this - it is a popular, almost "cult-like" flavor in the Midwest. It's bright blue in color, and flavored something like "citrus custard." It has also been described as "tasting like ice cream made from the leftover milk from several successive servings of Fruit Loops." Really. We'll have it all month (and the real blue moon occurs on June 30th).

CHOCOLATE CONES ARE BACK

It's summer, so we have chocolate waffle cones and chocolate waffle dishes (along with the old-fashioned standard homemade waffle cones). Some flavors just go better in a chocolate waffle. Not sure? We'll recommend some (like Cinnamon, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Coconut, Strawberry...heck, a bunch of 'em.

COOPERSTOWN IS MORE THAN BASEBALL

Sure, the Baseball Hall of Fame is located in this little New York community, but it's also the home of the Farmer's Museum, which is hosting a fascinating display of ice cream memorabilia this summer in "Ice Cream: Our Cool Obsession." Not that we're encouraging you to ignore the Oregon beaches for a trip east, but they do have some amazing items in the exhibit: old scoops in a variety of shapes and sizes, antique Tiffany ice cream service, Ben & Jerry's first freezer, and more. FEATURE FLAVORS

There are a lot of changes this month. Cinnamon is coming back, as are Malted Milk Ball, Oregon Black Cherry, and later in the month, Danish Sweet Cream. Two new flavors stick around for June - Mocha and Caramel Apple. On the no-sugar-added side we bring back Black Walnut. We still might experiment with a new flavor or two - just ask, "What's new?" And of course, don't forget Blue Moon (you won't be able to miss it).

SCHEDULE, HOURS, AND ALL THAT

Finally, it's almost summer, and we're open every day. The June schedule has two parts: From June 1 to June 17 our hours are:

Sunday through Thursday - 1pm-8pm

Friday and Saturday - 1pm-10pm

Then, beginning Monday, June 18, we're open every day from 1pm-10pm.
