Della Ann Wilson, 87, of Seaside, formerly of Warrenton, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, in Vancouver, Wash.
She was born Feb. 25, 1924, in Miller, S.D., to Hinnie and Golda (Mohr) Bahr.
In 1942, she graduated from Miller High School. She attended welding school and worked as an arc welder.
From 1945-1949, she served in the U.S. Navy. While in the service, she attended Hunter College in New York.
On Oct. 28, 1949, she married Robert S. Wilson. He preceded her in death in March 2003.
Mrs. Wilson attended beauty school and became a hairdresser and cosmetician. She later worked for the Oregon State Police as a dispatcher, and then for the city of Warrenton, where she lived for more than 50 years. She was very active in the building and management of the Warrenton Community Center. On March 1, 1979, she retired.
She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Seaside and a charter member of Women In Military Service For America. She was also a member of Rebekah Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Pacific Northwest Lady Veterans.
She is survived by a brother, Orland George Bahr and his wife, Madora, of Warrenton; four nephews, Stephen Bahr of Warrenton, Bruce Bahr of Oklahoma, Duane Bahr of South Dakota and David Bahr and his wife, Donna, of California; three nieces, Sheila (Bahr) Hutchinson and her husband, Nobel, of Seaside, Barbara Rudé of California, and Sylvia (Bahr) Bandy of Texas; and extended family members John and Dianna Nichols of Vancouver, Wash., Carl and Sherry Nichols of Fenton, Mich., and Kirby Nichols of Buckley, Wash.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin H. Bahr, in February 2001.
A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Seaside.
A military service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mount Scott Blvd. in Happy Valley.
