Martha E. Murfin, 93, of Seaview, Wash., died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, in Ilwaco, Wash.
Mrs. Murfin was born in Raymond, Wash., June 18, 1918, to Frank and Clara Turner. She graduated from Ilwaco High School in 1935 and earned a degree in physical education at the University of Washington in Seattle.
She married Richard Winfield Dick Murfin June 16, 1940. He died in 2007.
She received much recognition for participation in humanitarian projects, but her prime interests came down to family and kids. She made sure her family was raised with Christian values. Her mission in life was to love and support all kids.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Murfin Coffey and her husband, Joseph, of Shelton, Wash., and Maureen Murfin Cox Hunsberger and her husband John of Ritzville, Wash.; one daughter-in-law Susan Murfin of Seaview; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Richard Rick Murfin in 2005, and a great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Brea Cox in 2008.
A celebration of Mrs. Murfins life will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at the Black Lake campus gymnasium of Ilwaco High School. Those attending are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to the service.
