Edwin Arthur Adams

Cook, 89Edwin Arthur Adams, 89, of Astoria, died June 11, 2004, in Astoria.

Mr. Adams was born to Arthur and Ann Matthews Adams June 24, 1914 in Bridgeport, Conn. At a young age, he moved to New York where he attended school. In September 1943, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Knox and the USS LC as a cook. He received a World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. After his discharge, he served as a cook for the Corps of Engineers for 26 years.

On Aug. 20, 1949, he married Jesse Brown in Astoria. She died earlier.

Mr. Adams married Rosemary Jackson March 13, 1989. She also died earlier.

Mr. Adams was a lifetime

member of the Eagles and American Legion. He provided transporation for seniors until his health failed.

He is survived by a niece, Loretta J. McFarland of Seaside; and a friend he described as "the best friend I ever had," Frida Fraunfelder of Warrenton.

A memorial has already taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clatsop Community Action in care of Hughes Ransom Cremation & Mortuar
