Allen E. Ellsworth, 79, of Ocean Park, Wash., died Wednesday, May 16, 2007, in Long Beach, Wash., following a short illness.
He was born Feb. 6, 1928, in Hooper, Colo., to Neal and Florence (Semler) Ellsworth. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Hope, Ark.
Mr. Ellsworth attended school in Hope. After graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1946, attaining the rank of seaman first class. He was honorably discharged in 1947.
On Nov. 25, 1982, he married Emily Meyers in Battle Ground, Wash. In 1999, they moved to Ocean Park. She survives, residing in Ocean Park.
Mr. Ellsworth worked as a construction laborer until he retired.
He was a member of the Ocean Park Eagles and Moose lodges.
Family members said he loved playing the harmonica and played in a country and western band at one point. He also enjoyed traveling in his RV, fishing and panning for gold.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Connie Shaffer and Cliffton Ellsworth of Vancouver, Wash., Gail York of Ocean Park, Sharon Eggleston of Ridgefield, Wash., Bette Sue Laughlin of Yacolt, Wash., Debbie Stolk of Layafette and Tommy J. Meyers of Seattle; three brothers, Ralph Ellsworth of Iowa, Ward Ellsworth of Mt. Vernon, Wash., and Robert Ellsworth of Summer, Wash.; a twin sister, Ellen Hague of Vancouver; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was proceed in death by a daughter, Kathy Ellsworth, and a son Ralph "Taco" Ellsworth.
A graveside inurnment will be held at 2 p.m. June 3 at View Cemetery in View, Wash.
