Luke Frank Baccelleri
Seaside resident, 81Luke Frank Baccelleri, of Seaside, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, in Anaheim, Calif.
He was born April 18, 1924 in Portland to Nicol and Mary (Foley) Baccelleri.
Mr. Baccelleri lived in Portland for 50 years. He attended Roosevelt High School, where he played baseball and was the captain of the football and basketball team. He attended University of Oregon and played basketball there. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946.
He worked for Reynolds Aluminum Foil Company in Portland, and later was a longshoreman and refereed basketball games.
In 1974, he moved to Seaside and played golf and bridge and volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Drive.
In 1993, he married Barbara (Veek) Stoehr in Tillamook. She survives, residing in Seaside.
Mr. Baccelleri was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion, Astoria Golf & Country Club, Astoria and Seaside Duplicate Bridge Club, Thousand Palms Shuffle Board Club and Bible Study Group. Family members said he also enjoyed swimming, basketball, walks and traveling across the country with his wife in their motorhome.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Baccelleri is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Collette and Vincent Taormina of Newport, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Desiree, Vincent II, Joseph, Garrett, Jordan, Michael and Anthony Taormina, all of Newport, Calif.; three stepchildren Jennifer Udenby and her husband, Greg, of Tillamook, Jeff Veek of Bend and Mary Veek Kendrick of Tillamook, five stepgrandchildren, Brent Udenby of Portland, Skyler Veek and Allison Udenby Miller, both of Tillamook, and Justin and Chealsy Veek both of Bend; three step-great-grandchildren, River Veek, Sage Veek Peterson and Trask Veek Peterson, all of Tillamook.
Two sons, Pete and Nick Baccelleri, preceded him in death.
A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Tillamook.
Another memorial will be held in Rancho Mirage, Calif., at a pending time and date at the Victory Christian Center.
