Dorothy May Leppla Beeks

Astoria resident, 85Dorothy May "Dot" Leppla Beeks, 85, of Astoria, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, in Warrenton.

Mrs. Beeks was born May 9, 1919 in Astoria to James and Pearl May (Davis) Hess.

She attended school in Astoria.

In 1939, she married Robert Leppla, Sr. in Cathlamet, Wash. They spent most of their lives in Astoria. He died in 1985.

Mrs. Beeks later married William Beeks. He survives, living in Astoria.

Mrs. Beeks made her career as a homemaker.

She was a member of Astoria Christian Church. According to family members, she loved cooking, entertaining, playing cards and swimming.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Beeks is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Margert Hemmingsen of Woodinville, Wash., Eve and Jim Sixberry of Clieo, Mich., Judy and Tom Griffis of Astoria and Evelyn and Chris Causley of Astoria; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Beeks was preceded in death by one son, Robert Leppla, Jr. in 1991.

A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Astoria Christian Church, 1151 Harrison Ave., Astoria.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House or Astoria Christian Church in care of Hughes-Ransom Cremation and Mortuaries, 576 12th St., Astoria, OR 97103.
