Ronald Joseph Burt

Ocean Park, Wash., resident, 40Ronald Joseph Burt, 40, of Ocean Park, Wash., died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003 in Ocean Park.

Mr. Burt was born Feb. 13, 1963 in Orange, Calif., to Joseph and Pearl Jones Burt. His family moved to Ilwaco, Wash., when he was a young child. He attended third grade in Chinook, Wash., and went to school in Long Beach, Wash., until he entered high school in Ilwaco. During his junior year he joined the military and served three years with the U.S. Army, obtaining his GED.

After his honorable discharge, he lived for a time in Denver, Colo., where he attended college. Later he returned to the Long Beach Peninsula where he worked in the oystering, seafood cannery and gillnet fishing industries. He had also worked as a gardener with Green Angel Gardening and recently as a yardman for Oman and Son Building Materials.

Family members said he liked the outdoors and clam digging, feeding birds, horticulture and cats. He loved all sports, especially golf.

Mr. Burt is survived by his parents, Joseph and Pearl Burt of Long Beach; a half-sister, Elaine Durham of Vancouver, Wash.; two half-brothers, Jack and Charles Jones, both of Vancouver; two uncles and an aunt, Frank Jones of Long Beach and Tom and Carolyn Burt of Shaftsburg, Mich.; two aunts and uncles, Ann and Richard Browning of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Clara and George Plunkett of Vancouver; and numerous nieces and nephews. His grandparents, Thomas Burt, Dosia Burt Ames and Frank and Sarah Jones, and a half-brother, Virgil Jones, died earlier.

No service will be held.

Penttila's Chapel by the Sea in Long Beach is in charge of cremation.
