Carol Pope Carney, 62, of Gearhart, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, in Warrenton.

Mrs. Carney was born to Nathal Evans Stiles Pope and Anne Hardychuk Pope May 27, 1942, in Ventura County, California.

She was a master gardener and enjoyed working in her own garden in Gearhart. She also enjoyed yoga, aerobics, sewing, cooking, traveling worldwide and attending the musical theatre. She was a vestry member at Calvary Episcopal Parish and a docent at the Columbia River Maritime Museum.

On June 30, 1984, she married Joseph Carney in Portland. He survives, living in Gearhart.

Mrs. Carney did investigative work for the Oregon City Police Department, the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, the Colorado Department of Health and W. C. Cox Company of Tucson, Ariz.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Carney is survived by two daughters, Crishna Grelle of Seattle and Lanette Grelle of Washougal, Wash.; a stepson, Sean Carney of Portland; three stepdaughters, Maura Stafford of Georgia, Noreen Webb of Tennessee and Keara Carney of Texas; and six grandchildren, Corian Carney, Kayla Webb, Falon Webb, Megan Stafford, Brian Brown and Dale Pope.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Episcopal Parish, 503 North Holladay Drive in Seaside.

Flowers may be sent to Calvary Episcopal Parish in Seaside or the Lower Columbia Hospice House in Warrenton. Hughes-Ransom Cremation & Mortuaries in Seaside is in charge of arrangements.
