Janness J. Curry

Cannon Beach resident, 83Janness J. Curry, 83, of Cannon Beach, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, in Portland.

Mrs. Curry was born Dec. 7, 1919 in Portland to Dana and Ruth Pfaender Jewell. She attended schools in Portland.

On Feb. 11, 1941, she married Vincent Wade Curry in Portland. He died April 27, 1977.

Because of her husband's service in the U.S. Air Force, the Currys lived and traveled all over the world, including Texas, Montana, Alaska, California, New Jersey and Izmir, Turkey. The Currys summered on the Oregon Coast and moved to Cannon Beach in 1966.

Mrs. Curry owned and operated The Poddle Pad until she retired in 1977. She volunteered as a driver for North Coast Senior Services and Children's Services and at the Cannon Beach library.

She was a member of the Tolovana Club and the Haystack Rock Awareness Program. She spent the last 10 years with Ernie Moon in Tolovana Park.

In addition to Mr. Moon, Mrs. Curry is survived by a daughter, Sheryl Mehary of Canby; a son and daughter-in-law, Vincent and Judy Curry of Cannon Beach; four grandchildren, Heather Early of Astoria, Jennifer and Eugene Edwards of Willingboro, N.J., and Theresa McAdoo of Tigard; and five great-grandchildren, Jessica Curry, Joshua Jensen and Cody Early, all of Astoria, and Ian and Colin McAdoo of Tigard.

A memorial will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 20, at the Cannon Beach Community Presbyterian Church, 132 E. Washington St., in Cannon Beach.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cannon Beach Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Medical Team Fund, in care of Hughes-Ransom Cremation and Mortuaries, 220 N. Holladay Drive, Seaside, OR 97138.
