Charlotte Aune Detlefs

Nurse, 84Charlotte Aune Detlefs, 84, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, in Lebanon.

Mrs. Detlefs was born to Karl and Anna Laine March 21, 1920 in Astoria. She lived in Astoria throughout her childhood, graduating from high school in 1938.

On Dec. 29, 1938, she married William E. Detlefs in Kelso, Wash. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Mrs. Detlefs attended St. Mary's Nursing School, where she received her registered nursing certificate. She worked as a hospital nurse and for two doctors in the Astoria area.

After living in Fort Stevens, Salem and Portland, Mrs. Detlefs then moved to San Diego, Calif. She continued her work as a nurse for a doctor's office, moved back to Oregon and retired in the Lebanon area in 1974.

Mrs. Detlefs attended Waterloo Chapel. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crocheting, oil painting, reading and making doll clothing. She traveled to Finland to visit her parents' homeland.

Mrs. Detlefs is survived by one daughter, Vicki Lyle of Lebanon; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Detlefs was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.

A private burial was held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Waterloo Chapel Memorial Fund, in care of Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St., Lebanon, OR 97355.
