Sylvester "Bud" Leo Edler, 60, of Gearhart, died Thursday, May 30, 2002, in Gearhart.

Mr. Edler was born June 1, 1941, in Stayton, to Alphonze and Esther Scheidemantel Edler. He graduated from Gaston High School.

He married Gloria Harris on April 15, 1967. She survives, residing in Gearhart.

Mr. Edler served in the US Air Force in Korea before starting a candy and tobacco company. He moved to Gearhart in 1971 and continued in delivery service. In 1980, he started a 20-year career with American Linen.

His family remembers him as an outgoing and friendly man who never met anyone he did not like.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Tim Edler of Lafayette and Mike Edler of Ilwaco, Wash.; two daughters, Sandie Edler of Salem and Susan Edler of Gearhart; three sisters and brothers-in-law.

Memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Hughes Ransom Mortuary, Astoria. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements in care of Hughes Ransom Mortuary, 220 N. Holladay Drive, Seaside, OR 97138.
