Anita Irene Finel
Astoria resident, 74Anita Irene Finel, 74, of Astoria, died Monday, April 12, 2004 in Astoria.
Mrs. Finel was born May 7, 1929 in Vancouver, Wash., to Alfred Eller and Myrtle C. Herbes/Beggs.
She received her education in Portland Catholic schools and graduated from high school in 1947. After graduation she worked in a bank for a short period.
On Jan. 11, 1947, she married John G. Finel in Portland. He died in 1988.
They moved to Clatsop County in 1967 from Camas, Wash., and resided in Knappa. After her husband's death, she moved to Astoria.
Her hobbies included spending time with her grandchildren and church activities. She loved attending the Astoria Crab and Seafood Festival, family members say.
She was a member of St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gregory Finel of Camas, and Larry and Janet Finel of Reno/Sparks, Nev.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Lorraine Osbourn of Portland.
A son, Edward Finel, preceded her death in 1987.
Visitation will be held from noon to 7 p.m. today at Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary.
A Rosary will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m.
Private vault interment will be held at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland
