Etta Estella Fluhrer
Former resident, 91Etta Estella Fluhrer, 91, of Longview, Wash., died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at the Canterbury Inn in Longview.
Mrs. Fluhrer was born Jan. 13, 1913 in Portland to William Franklin and Hazel (Gage) Jones.
She received her education in Seaside and Clatskanie and graduated from Clatskanie High School in 1932.
In 1934, she married Fred R. Fluhrer of Mayger. He died in 1988.
Mrs. Fluhrer lived in Astoria from 1939 until she moved to Longview in 2000.
Family members say she was a devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed gardening, golf, bowling and traveling.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church while living in Astoria and at the time of her death was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Clatskanie. She was a past member of the Astoria Golf & Country Club, Fern Chapter Order of Eastern Star and Amaranth.
She is survived by a son, Curt Fluhrer of Clatskanie; a daughter, Rae Dean Slotte-Bogard of Longview, Wash.; five grandsons, David Slotte of Clatskanie, Stephen and Craig Slotte of Seattle, Derrick Fluhrer of Sammamish, Wash., and Scott Fluhrer of Miami, Fla.; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Lillich and Fran Salmi of Clatskanie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Jones, and two half-sisters, Alberta Wiley and Arletha Albrecht.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, 1010 N.E. Fifth St., Clatskanie. Pastor Joe Strandjord will officiate.
A private interment will be at Murray Hill Cemetery in Clatskanie.
