Marva Jean Frisbie
Nurse, 88Marva Jean Frisbie, of Astoria, died Friday, June 10, 2005 in Astoria.
Mrs. Frisbie was born Nov. 28, 1916 in Astoria to Axel G. and Dora Marie Larson Backlund. She was raised in Astoria and graduated from Astoria High School. She attended Eman-uel School of Nursing in Portland, then went to work at Columbia Hospital in Astoria, eventually working at the Medical Arts Clinic and then at the Astoria Clinic.
She also worked at and served on the board of the Astoria Food Bank. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and the Order of VASA.
Mrs. Frisbie is survived by brother Howard Backlund of King City; sister-in-law Emmy Oren of Gearhart; cousin Elma Rae Marxen-Griffin of Astoria; and nieces Dorene Rodriguez of Oceanside, Calif. and Jan Teach of California.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Gearhart Backlund.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church.
