Relyea 'Rilly' Anne Grubmeyer
Teacher, 69Relyea "Rilly" Anne Grubmeyer, 69, of Seaside, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, in Seaside.
Mrs. Grubmeyer was born June 15, 1933, in Portland, to Albert and Adelaide Sheasgreen Wakeman.
Mrs. Grubmeyer graduated from the University of Portland with a teaching degree and taught at Groner Elementary in Progress until her retirement in 1980. She specialized in teaching reading. She also did mission work on Burnside in Portland and won the Carnation Community Service Award from the Volunteer Bureau of Greater Portland in 1983. She had been coming to Cannon Beach since the 1930s and moved to Seaside in 1987. She was active in the community and volunteered with the Sunday Supper program at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Family members say she was very sociable, loved helping others, enjoyed gardening and flowers, and walking on the beach.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kirstin and Richard Whitlock, and Jocelyn and Todd Milliren, all of Seaside, and Molly Meyer of Cannon Beach; five grandchildren, Aimee and David Whitlock, and Dylan, Austin and Nolan Milliren, all of Seaside; and numerous other family members.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 120 Ocean Way, in Seaside.
