Irene A. Gunderson

Astoria resident, 93Irene A. Gunderson, 93, of Astoria, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in Astoria.

Mrs. Gunderson was born Nov. 17, 1908, in Astoria, to Charles Kiminki. She grew up and was educated in Astoria.

On Dec. 30, 1929, she married Arthur Gunderson in Astoria. He died in 1956.

For more than 30 years, Mrs. Gunderson lived in Megler, Wash. She worked at the Columbia River Packers' Association seafood cannery for 20 years. In the early 1960s, she returned to Astoria. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Astoria.

Survivors include two nephews, Carl Kiminki of Renton, Wash., and Mark Kiminki of Astoria; two nieces, Arlene Klock of Oxnard, Calif., and Judy Bousquet of Bend; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews. In addition to her husband, six brothers and sisters, Orvie, Arnie, Bill, Charles, Elmer and Signe Kiminki, all died earlier.

Graveside service is 3 p.m. today at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
