James L. 'Jim' Huffman
Knappa resident, 74James L. "Jim" Huffman, of Knappa, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, in Portland.
Mr. Huffman was born July 24, 1928, in Woodhill, Ill., to Mabel and Alba Huffman. His longtime step-mother was Kathryn Wertz.
On April 7, 1974, he married Ethel Grace Peters. She survives, residing in Knappa.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army. He earned a bachelor's degree and worked primarily as an accountant at Trident Seafoods in Ballard, Wash. He lived in Knappa for nine years following retirement. He attended Crossroads Community Church and liked to work in his yard. He enjoyed clam digging and walking on the beach.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two step-sons, Ace R. Anderson who lives on a sailboat and Gary C. Anderson of Portland; a son and daughter-in law, Dustin and Patty Huffman of Salem; a sister, Ida Nitz of Port Byron, Ill.; three sisters-in-law, Marie Huffman of Victoria, Ill., Ellen Kiefer of Kingman, Ariz., and Helen Mashaw of Carlsbad, N.M.; a brother-in-law, Richard Peters of Summerville, Texas; three grandchildren, Christopher, Dusty and Julie Huffman, all of Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday at Skyline Memorial Gardens, 4101 N.W. Skyline Blvd. in Portland.
