James Thomas "Jim" Jacob, 64, of Westport, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, in Westport.

He was born Nov. 4, 1942, in Seattle, to Lester Harry and Mary Ellen (Scalse) Jacob.

Mr. Jacob was raised in the Westport area and attended school in Clatskanie.

On Feb. 24, 1962, he married Donna Gressett in Kelso, Wash. She survives, residing in Westport.

Mr. Jacob worked for the Westport Lumber Company until it closed in 1971. While attending refrigeration school in Portland, he taught welding to other students. Returning to Westport, he worked in appliance repair until his death.

He was a member of the Pipefitters and Steamfitters Union.

Family members said he enjoyed playing cards and family gatherings with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Shelly and Jeff Trass of Rainier, Sherri Jacob and Scott Warren of Westport and Wendy and Curt McCleskey of Toledo; a son and daughter-in-law, James C. Jacob and Tonja Odell of Winlock, Wash.; two sisters, Esther Herrin of Longview, Wash., and Jean Haglund of Westport; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Jacob requested that there be no service. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave., Astoria, OR 97103.
