Joyce K. Corder, 85, of Astoria, died Thursday, April 26, 2007, in Long Beach, Wash.
She was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Karlstad, Minn., to Olav T. and Elsie (Schie) Folland. She was raised in Minnesota.
On Sept. 11, 1940, she married Ernest Johnson. He preceded her in death June 1, 1962.
She married Jake Corder. He also preceded her in death.
For approximately 15 years, Mrs. Corder was employed at Ocean Foods. After Ocean Foods closed, she worked for Fishhawk in Astoria for four years before retiring.
Mrs. Corder served as president of the Astoria Senior Center more than once. She was also a member of the Daughters of Norway.
Family members said that at the age of 70, Mrs. Corder received her general equivalency diploma from Clatsop Community College. She enjoyed being outside, especially walking around the town of Astoria. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and attending church.
Mrs. Corder is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joy and Jim Roehr and Edi and Joe Roshau, all of Astoria, and Kathleen Johnson of Seattle; a son, Jim Johnson of Astoria; a son-in-law, Bob Agee of Palm Springs, Calif.; a sister, Harriet Sweeney of Bend; a brother, Ed Folland of Bend; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Orson Johnson, and a daughter, Sam Traver.
A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. May 12 at Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary. Private interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Astoria.
