Billy I. Meyer

Computer pioneer, 68Billy I. Meyer of Glendale, Ariz., died Oct. 19, 2004 in Glendale.

Mr. Meyer was born Jan. 21, 1932 to Irvin and Margarethe Meyer. He was raised in Ridgefield, Wash., were he attended school and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a pioneer in the application of computers to business. In the 1950s, he worked for a subsidiary of IBM, then later became an executive at several Oregon companies including Multnomah Data Processing, NW Data Processing, and Travcom, and was president of NW Data Systems and United Data Processing. In retirement, he moved to Long Beach, Wash., where he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Mr. Meyer is survived by four children, David and Steve Meyer, Evonna Westlund and Dianna Trapp; six grandchildren; and his companion Mandy Miljus.

An open house will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Chautauqua Lodge in Long Beach.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you go fishing with your loved ones.
