Earl H. Mickelsen

Veteran, 84Earl H. Mickelsen, 84, of Seaside, died Thursday, April 8, 2004 in Portland.

Mr. Mickelsen was born Jan. 9, 1920 in Portland to Harry and Hazel Mickelsen.

He grew up in Portland and graduated from Washington High School in 1937. He graduated from Lewis and Clark College in 1974.

Mr. Mickelsen served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He had achieved the rank of colonel when he retired in 1966. After his retirement, he returned to Portland. In 2001 he moved to Seaside.

Survivors include three sons, John, Thomas and Kenneth Mickelsen; a brother, John (Jack) Mickelsen; and one grandchild.

A graveside service is 1 p.m. April 23, 2004, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion. Gable Funeral Chapel, 225 N.E. 80th Ave., Portland, is in charge of arrangements. For more information, call Gable Funeral Home at (503) 253-7569.
